Candle Making 101
Tonight as we were cooking during power out, Sarah got inventive with empty water bottles and taper candles. By inventive, I mean that she chopped off the top of the water bottle and stuck a taper candle inside. We poured in melted wax and then spent the rest of our power out time (2 hours at least), trying to replicate the prototype. Really we spent the whole time trying to melt more wax. Fortunately for all of us, the power came back on just as we were pouring the last of the wax. Phew. It was really fun, but it's possible that we all got just a little bit too excited about the whole thing.

It had slipped my mind that you two had escaped to Africa. I guess a little thing called "time" has gone by since Christmas. Reading your blogs and following your travels has been very insiteful and a joy to read. It goes to show you how dependent and spoiled we here in the states are. Then again, it doesn't sound like these towns and people feel like they're missing out on anything. From what I'm hearing and reading, they sound content and happy. I look forward to reading more especially about the Nile(cool!) and we are very confident that lives and communities are progressing because of you two. Talk to you two again soon! Love you and take care. By for now from Michigan and Florida (retirees)

I believe one can NEVER get too excited in melting wax.
I believe I spent much of 7th grade in this same fashion. That's not meant to compare you to 7th graders, just to say I understand the fascination =). So glad you two seem to be doing well. Know you're missed in PA but our prayers are with you!
